This November Signpost launched a new outreach project funded by BBC Children in Need. The project aims to support young people in the wards in West Hertfordshire with the highest rates of child poverty, including Cowley Hill in Borehamwood, Holywell in Watford, and Highfield and Grovehill in Hemel Hempstead. Young people who face the greatest problems are least likely to engage with one-to-one support. The project builds on Signpost’s pilot in South Oxhey, where ‘pizza and problem-solving’ groups engaged with hard-to-reach young people who would not engage with one-to-one support and successfully drew 50% of participants into counselling.
