Thank you to those of you who shared in a lovely evening at West Herts College, which raised around £175 for Signpost.
This year, Rayna chose two runners-up for the award to reward counsellors who support Signpost’s wider work in small, hidden ways, for example, arranging Christmas drinks, doing the washing up, helping field telephone calls during staff illness or advising office staff on maintaining a healthy posture while working at a PC. Our two runners-up are Gabi Marsall and Maggie Taylor, who will be receiving a bunch of flowers to acknowledge our appreciation for their support.
Whilst the small things are much appreciated, the winners have contributed in a major and time-consuming way. A group of four Signpost practitioners have come up with a concept for supporting 11-13 year-olds through an art group and put it into place. They set it up, volunteered their time, got funding for materials, found a free room and even recruited former clients as volunteers. For Signpost to have piloted a new activity with minimal oversight from our stretched office staff has been nothing short of spectacular and provides a foundation for winning funding to support future work in this vein. So, this year’s Rayna Shock Award was presented last night to ‘The Art Group Posse’ – namely Teresa, Liz, Sophia and Kathryn. Many thanks and congratulations to them!
Fortunately, the visionary behind the idea was at the dinner to receive the award on the group’s behalf
